RDO Strengthens Commitment to Ethical Research Through PHREB Orientation

The Research and Development Office (RDO) participated in the Orientation Activity on “Research Ethics: Definition, Principles and Governance” organized by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) Regional Ethics Monitoring Board VI (REMB VI) on May 12, 2026, via Zoom Video Conferencing.
The orientation provided participants with a deeper understanding of research ethics, its fundamental principles, and the role of research ethics committees in ensuring the responsible conduct of research. Discussions also covered the definition, composition, and functions of Research Ethics Committees, research ethics review types and processes, and the programs and services of PHREB and the Regional Ethics Monitoring Boards.
The session, facilitated by Prof. Lerma L. Paris, Chair of the REMB VI Committee on Information Dissemination, Training and Advocacy, also featured an open forum and plenary discussion, allowing participants to clarify concerns and further engage with the principles of ethical research governance.
Through engagements such as this, the RDO continues to enhance its capacity in research ethics, ethical review, and responsible research governance, reinforcing its commitment to protecting research participants and upholding integrity throughout the research process.
