The Research and Development Office
Objectives
The Research and Development Office (RDO) aims to cultivate a strong culture of research and innovation by encouraging active engagement among faculty, students, and staff. It supports the development and implementation of high quality, ethical, and relevant research aligned with institutional priorities and community needs.
Guided by Augustinian values such as love of truth, unity, and service, the RDO promotes research that upholds integrity, social responsibility, and the pursuit of knowledge for the common good. It also integrates the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring that research initiatives contribute to sustainable, inclusive, and transformative development.
Furthermore, the RDO enhances research competencies through capacity building programs, mentorship, and policy support. It facilitates the dissemination and utilization of research outputs through publications, presentations, and partnerships, while strengthening linkages with local and international institutions to foster collaboration and expand opportunities for impactful research.
Mission
The Research and Development Office fulfills UNO-R’S aspiration to be “A Catholic University committed to the integral formation of the human person with passion for excellence and service to the church and society,” (Memorandum No. 123, Series SY 2015-2016).
Specifically, the RDO envisions UNO-R to attain a national and international position in education and research through the constant formation and development of scholarly leaders whose works parallel or even exceed the international standard of quality in their fields and disciplines. It likewise pursues enrichment of existing academic programs and broadening of knowledge through functional ethical research for the authentic good of the individual and the society.
Vision
In line with the mission of UNO-R as “An Augustinian Recollect University that educates the mind and heart by providing the climate, the structure, and the means to develop the vocation knowledge, skills, talents, and attitude of the community as permeated by the Gospel values for the service of humanity, love, and praise to the One God” (Memorandum No. 123, Series SY 2015-2016), the Research and Development OOice (RDO) commits itself to the generation and propagation of new knowledge for human development, social sustainability, environmental protection, technological innovation, nation building, and social transformation.
It likewise commits itself to the actualization of UNO-R’s commitment to the advancement of research and development, fully supportive of and complementary to teaching and community services and responsiveness to contemporary issues and problems of the University and of the society (RPDO Policies and Guidelines, 2010).
