The Research and Development Office (RDO) strengthened its capacity for gender-responsive research through participation in the Training–Workshop on Research Methods for Gender and Development (GAD) Studies, held on September 28–30, 2026, in Cagayan de Oro City.
Representing the University were Ms. Bea Marie Catapang and Ms. Stephanie Tarre, who took part in the three-day training designed to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in developing meaningful and methodologically sound GAD research.
The training was facilitated by Dr. Genaro V. Japos, Ph.D., a Filipino educator, researcher, and academic leader with extensive experience in multidisciplinary research and scholarly publishing. His expertise in education, research, academic publishing, knowledge management, and journal systems provided participants with valuable perspectives on strengthening research practices.
Throughout the training, participants explored the fundamentals of GAD research, research frameworks and emerging research gaps, qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods approaches, literature review and proposal writing, as well as research partnerships and funding linkages.
The engagement further equips the RDO team to support and promote gender-responsive, evidence-based, and socially relevant research, contributing to a stronger research culture and more inclusive development within the University and the communities it serves.
